DescriptionEvery Wednesday this semester we had a free write. What is a free write you may ask? Well we are given a topic to write about and then we have 20 to 25 minutes to write. We can write whatever we would like really because the teachers do not read what we write about. Instead we have the option to share if we like to.
ReflectionThe Wednesday free writes have helped me a lot with my writing. It feel nice to have to just write and not worry about the punctuations and grammar. Also not having anybody look at what you write and judge your writing feels nice and helps me with personal growth which I believe is a key skill to have in life. From the first free write to the last I have improved in the “flow” of my writing and my descriptions. It is a pretty interesting feeling I get when I am in the middle of a writing and I ask myself, am I going to share this? Most of the time the answer is no but I still end up sharing to the class. I loved some of the prompts because they would make me feel good about myself when I would write about it, it also helped me realize a lot of stuff about me. Writing about myself felt therapeutic. My favorite writing was “A Turning Point”. Writing this piece really opened up my eyes and made me realize how significant this turning point was in my life. I gave multiple turning points in my life. I mainly talked about rugby and how being the captain of the team really brought up my leadership skills. I also talked about how I realized that when I pay attention in rugby I improve greatly so then I started applying that in my life. Writing these free writes really helped me look into the future and the past as well as the present. I cannot wait to look back at this journal in ten years and remembering all the good times I had in my childhood.
